Regulation & Costs
Outpatient psychiatric care is a service provided by the statutory health insurance funds. It is usually prescribed by specialists in neurology/psychiatry for the person concerned. General practitioners can also prescribe it, provided that a diagnosis has been confirmed by a specialist beforehand.
The services of outpatient care can only be provided by specialized and qualified nursing staff.
The aim of outpatient psychiatric care is to secure and support specialist treatment. The costs are usually covered by the health insurance companies according to ยง 37.2 SGB V. Mentally ill people are cared for at home in their familiar surroundings. Since 1995, St. Josef Pflege GmbH, which has been part of the Franciscan GFO network since 2022, has been a reliable partner when it comes to outpatient psychiatric nursing care.
